Object Description
Op 5 september 1972 presenteerde Philips een revolutionair nieuw product. In de presentatie werd nadrukkelijk gewezen op de educatieve benutting. Beelden en geluiden werden opgeslagen op een plaat met microscopisch kleine putjes die via een laser werden omgezet in een televisiesignaal. Het hightech apparaat dat ´ongekende mogelijkheden´ kon brengen faalde, maar legde het fundament onder de compact disks en DVD technologie.

Demonstration of the videodisc, with a focus on the technical possibilities of the disc and the purposes for which the disc can be used. SHOTS: videodisc and video playback equipment that has been connected to a television set; the working of the videodisc is shown.
